Action Research - Still in Action

Wow, it has been quite some time. Of course time has just flown by since Christmas break. The meetings are still going fairly well. In the month of December we did not hold a meeting because of the short month. During January we didn't have a very successful meeting. Based on prior parent responses parents wanted to know what extra-curricular clubs were available to their students, so we put together a gallery walk. Representatives from each of the clubs had a spot in the library and the parents were able to walk around and talk to students currently in the clubs and the sponsors. While I was very excited about this parent night we didn't have many parents in attendance. Now February on the other hand I felt was quite a success especially concerning Spanish speaking parents.
-Oh I forgot to share the other good news - (it connects to February's success) We kicked off our English class for Spanish speaking parents. The volunteer teachers are having so much fun teaching these parents and we have about 12 parents attending. So how does this connect to February's parent meeting, well we had several of our parents that attend the class attend the parent meeting in February. It is nice to start to form relationships with parents and for their faces to become familiar. One group of parents just raved on how helpful the information we provided was and that they really appreciated it. Currently, I am not sure we will be holding a meeting in March, but April is sure to be something interesting.
