Parental involvement is so important! I agree that it needs to be increased in probably most schools. I find it so frustrating when I can't collaborate with parents, especially when it is a child that needs that extra support. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am interested in your research inquiry. As Jamie said, parent involvement is so important. I am researching how parent involvement effects reading levels. One of the dilemmas I am facing is on a parent questionnaire. When you send home the questionnaires, most of the parents that respond are the ones that are already involved. How will you get the questionnaires returned for the parents that are reluctant? I look forward to following your research!
ReplyDeleteI will be putting my questionnaire in with the beginning of year packets. I am hoping since it is mixed in with important stuff like the emergency cards I will get a good amount back. But I too am concerned about this initial survey. If I do not get a good response I may utilize our schools call out/mass e-mailer and send a link to the survey that way. I am hoping the first way gets a good response though. I should know in two weeks because our students have to return their packets to pick up their class schedules if they want them before the first day of class. (And in middle school they all want to make sure their schedule is what they want, so they want it.)
